Terms of sale

The terms on which we sell you a card. Please read sections 7 and 8, on colour and photo quality — they are what people are most often surprised by.

1. Who you are buying from

Tantallon Holdings Limited trading as Little Pocket Card Co., a company registered in England and Wales under number 16290897, with its registered office at 83 Tantallon Road, Balham, London SW12 8DQ. VAT registration number GB 488 731 736. In these terms “we” and “us” means that company, and “you” means the person placing the order.

You can reach us at orders@littlepocketcardco.co.uk. We answer every email ourselves.

2. What you are buying

A personalised plastic card, 85.6mm × 54mm — the ISO CR80 size, the same as a bank card. Your photograph is printed on the front within a slim 1mm border of bare card, portrait or landscape as you choose. The reverse carries your optional message, up to 40 characters, in a fixed typeface and layout.

It is a keepsake, not an identity document, a payment card, or proof of anything. It carries no security features and should not be presented as official.

3. Price and payment

£10 per card, including VAT at 20%, with free delivery within the United Kingdom. The price shown at checkout is the price you pay; nothing is added afterwards. Payment is taken in full when you order and is handled by Stripe — we never see or hold your card details.

4. Your order

Your order is accepted, and a contract formed, when we email your confirmation. Until then no contract exists between us. We may decline an order — for example where we cannot produce an acceptable card from the photograph supplied, or where section 6 applies — and if we do, we refund you in full and tell you why.

Production begins quickly, usually within hours. Section 9 explains what that means if you change your mind.

5. Your photograph and your message

By uploading a photograph and submitting a message you confirm that you own them or have permission to use them, that printing them will not infringe anyone else’s rights, and that any identifiable person in the photograph would not object to it being printed. You keep every right in your own photograph; we acquire none beyond producing the card you ordered.

If someone brings a claim against us because of what you asked us to print, you agree to reimburse us for the reasonable costs of dealing with it. This applies only to claims arising from the content you supplied, and only so far as the claim is not caused by something we did wrong.

We print your message exactly as you type it. Spelling, punctuation, names and capitalisation are yours. We do not correct them, and a typo is not a fault in the card.

6. What we will not print

We will not print material that is unlawful, that infringes someone else’s rights, or that appears to exploit, sexualise or endanger a child. Where we refuse an order on those grounds we refund it, and where the law requires us to report it, we will.

7. Colour

Colours on the printed card will not match your screen exactly, and a difference in colour is not a fault. This is a physical limitation rather than a shortcut. Your phone shows a photograph as coloured light on a backlit display; a card shows it as dye set into plastic under a protective overlay, seen in whatever light you happen to be standing in. The range of colours the two can produce is genuinely different, and no printing process closes that gap.

In practice this means:

  • Printed cards are typically a little softer and warmer than the same image on a phone. Very bright or saturated tones — vivid reds, electric blues, screen-bright whites — print more muted.
  • Skin tones, dark areas and shadows may render differently from what you saw on screen.
  • Small variations occur between print runs, and between cards within the same order, as ribbon, card stock and conditions change.
  • Your own screen’s brightness, colour profile and night-shift setting all change what you saw when you approved the card, and we have no visibility of any of them.

Your photograph is printed within a 1mm border of bare card rather than to the very edge. Each card is fed through the printer individually and can sit a fraction out of square, so that border may vary a little from one side to another. That is normal for this kind of printing rather than a defect. A border that is obviously uneven, or an image noticeably off-centre, is not — tell us and we will replace it.

We do not offer colour matching or colour proofing, we do not reprint on the grounds of colour preference, and we cannot accept a return because the finished card looks different from your screen. If a card is genuinely misprinted — banded, streaked, cut off, or carrying the wrong image — that is a fault, and section 10 applies.

8. Photograph quality, cropping and what you approve

We print the photograph you give us, framed the way you framed it. We do not retouch, sharpen, brighten, colour-correct or otherwise alter it. The quality of the finished card therefore follows the quality of your photograph, which is the one part of this only you can control.

  • A photograph that is blurred, dark, grainy, low-resolution, heavily filtered, or a screenshot of another image will print that way. We reject images plainly too small to print, but that check is a floor, not a promise of a good result.
  • The crop is yours. You position and zoom the photograph yourself and confirm it before paying. The preview shows a dashed safe area — anything outside it may be trimmed when the card is cut, and heads or hands placed near the edge can lose a millimetre or two.
  • The card is small. A photograph taken from a distance, or with several people in it, loses detail at this size in a way it does not on a phone.
  • We generate the print file from your original photograph using the exact crop you set, so the printed card matches what you approved. What we cannot do is make the underlying photograph better than it is.

A card that faithfully reproduces a photograph you are disappointed by is not a faulty card, and we are not able to refund it on that basis.

9. Changing your mind

Every card is made to your own specification, from your own photograph, and cannot be sold to anyone else. Personalised goods of this kind are excluded from the 14-day right to cancel by regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. By ordering you acknowledge that you lose that right once production begins. It is the same rule that applies to anything else made to a consumer’s specification, from a printed mug to a fitted blind.

We will still cancel and refund an order in full if you tell us before your card has gone to print, and being a small operation we would genuinely rather do that than send you something you do not want. Email us as soon as you can — the earlier you write, the more likely we can stop it.

This section does not affect your rights if a card is faulty or not as described. Those are set out below and cannot be signed away.

10. If something is wrong

If a card arrives damaged, misprinted, or is not the card you approved, we will replace it or refund you — your choice. Reply to your order confirmation with a photograph of the problem, ideally within 14 days of delivery, and we will sort it out. There is no form to fill in, and we do not ask for the card to be posted back.

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which require goods to be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described.

11. Delivery

We print and post from Britain, usually within two working days, by Royal Mail. Any timescale we give is an estimate rather than a guaranteed delivery date; once a card is with Royal Mail the timing is outside our control. We do not offer a guaranteed or next-day service, so please do not order against a deadline with no margin in it.

We send cards to the address you give us at checkout. Please check it. We cannot recover a card delivered to an address entered incorrectly, though we will always reprint at cost if that happens.

If your card has not arrived 10 working days after we posted it, tell us and we will reprint and resend it free of charge.

12. Our responsibility to you

If we fail to comply with these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking this contract or of our failing to use reasonable care and skill.

We do not limit our liability where the law does not allow it to be limited. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for breach of your statutory rights in relation to the goods.

Subject to that, and because of what this product is, we are not responsible for losses that are not a foreseeable consequence of the card itself — for example the occasion-related consequences of a card arriving after a birthday, or costs incurred elsewhere in reliance on a delivery estimate. Where our liability can lawfully be limited, it is limited to the amount you paid for the order.

13. Events outside our control

We are not responsible for delays caused by something outside our reasonable control — postal disruption, equipment failure, supply shortages, severe weather. If one occurs we will contact you, and if the delay is substantial you may cancel and receive a full refund for anything not yet printed.

14. Using this site

You must be at least 18 to place an order. The design, text, imagery and software of this site belong to us; your photograph and your message remain entirely yours.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it.

16. Complaints and law

If something has gone wrong, email orders@littlepocketcardco.co.uk and we will reply. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
